Easy Updates Manager

Easy Updates Manager
This plugin allows you to keep your website up-to-date without having to worry about it.

You install it and check that plugins, themes and translations are checked and away you go. Never worry if your website is not updated.

This is a great plugin to keep your site up-to-date.

Post types re-order WordPress
Ever wanted to change the order in which your blog posts display?

This simple drag and drop plugin allows you to do such that. Install the plugin and move the posts in any order you want.

Google XML Sitemaps

WordPress Google Sitemaps
The plugin I use for my sitemap is the one here. Easy to install and then all you have to do is click to notify the search engines of your sitemap.

Make sure you only have one sitemap active if using other SEO plugins.

Page Builder by SiteOrigin

WordPress page builder plugin
In my opinion one of the best plugins available to a WordPress user. You can create any type of page layout you want using this plugin.

One column, two columns, three columns and so on. Drag and drop widgets into the rows to create stunning pages.

I love this plugin!  Official description here.

Really Simple SSL

WordPress plugin really simple SSL
If you have installed a SSL certificate on your WordPress website and still have unsecure content, this plugin will fix that problem.

Install the plugin and active the settings. All of your content will now display the green secure padlock and not an exclamation mark in your browser.

Clever stuff. Download and information here.

WordFence Security

WordFence for WordPress
Nobody wants to have a hacked website or blog infected with malware, install a security plugin to help prevent attacks.

I have used WordFence for a good number of years and touch wood, I have had no problems.

This is a great plugin to protect your site from attacks. I fully recommend this plugin to help keep your website secure.

Check out the plugin here.

WP User Avatar

WordPress Avatar Plugin

When you create a WordPress website, you become a user and admin as you know. By default you cannot add your own avatar (your own choice of small picture for the author setting). You have to use a Gravatar avatar.

A work around for this is to add the WP User Avatar. This creates an upload feature within your profile so you can add your own image. Great little plugin!  Read more.

Yoast SEO

SEO Plugin WordPress

You will know how important SEO is for your website to rank high in search engines.

My WordPress SEO weapon of choice for my website is Yoast SEO. It is easy to set up and creates meta fields below each post or page so you can control what is displayed as the snippet in the likes of Google.

There are a lot of useful features in the free version of  Yoast SEO which will help your website rank.  Further info here.

All-In-One Migration

Migration plugin for WP

One of the most useful plugins I have come across is this one.

I wanted to move 10 websites from one hosting provider to a better hosting company and copy one website and change the text. This plugin worked a treat. If you need to move a website I recommend this plugin.

All you have to do is click export, save the file on your computer, install WordPress on a new host, download the plugin again, then import the file back into the plugin. Voila, your website moves in a few clicks.

Top plugin!  Find out more here.

Smush Image Compression & Optimisation

Smush for WordPress

If you have a lot of images on your website, this plugin helps to optimise them which in turn can speed up your website.

Install the plugin then smush your images (easy instructions to follow). With the free version you can smush 50 images at a time then do another batch of 50.

It is a very good image compression plugin.  More here.
