Yesterday we went to Twycross Zoo located on Burton Road in Atherstone, postcode is CV9 3PX (for your sat nav).
We travelled from Leamington Spa via the M40, M42 and got off at junction 11 and you pick up the brown signs for Twycross Zoo so didn’t really require the sat nav after Junction 11 and getting on the A444.
We had booked online prior to going and it cost us £37 for two adults and one child of 8 years old. It is worth booking in advance as you do not have to queue up and can go in the fast lane which is the left hand side gate of the entrance.
We arrived just before 10am (the zoo opening time) and there was ample parking but the car park soon filled up so I suggest getting there about that time. The zoo opens 10am-6pm until the 25th October 2014, then closes an hour earlier at 5pm until 28th March.
The zoo is quite large with a number of different sections. Here are a selection of the photos we took from the day:
Twycross Zoo was a great day out for the family and we fully recommend a visit. The kids loved it. There are some really good children’s play areas, plenty of areas for picnics (you can get a stamp on your hand to return to your car, collect your picnic then re-enter the zoo) and toilets dotted about the place.
Have a great time if you go!
